08.11.16 (Thursday) August Breakfast Meeting

Featuring Deacon Sean P. Keller, KCHS Permanent Deacon, the Baltimore Basilica
Sponsored by STAR Physical Therapy

Details

Deacon Sean Keller completed four years of formation at St. Mary’s Seminary & University, Baltimore, Maryland and was ordained a Deacon by His Excellency, Archbishop William E. Lori on May 11, 2013. He is assigned to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary—America’s First Catholic Cathedral—where he provides Sacramental Preparation and leads the Pastoral Care of the Sick Ministry, along with the Baltimore Basilica Young Professionals. He is also the Chairman of the Basilica Liturgy Committee and manages the Basilica’s social media. Deacon Sean serves as an Advocate for the Metropolitan Tribunal. In 2006, he was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, where he currently holds the rank of Knight Commander and serves as the Treasurer of the Middle Atlantic Lieutenancy. He is also a member of the Baltimore Basilica Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Deacon Sean credits the late Msgr James Hobss with his discerning a vocation and the late Msgr Arthur Valenzano, PA, with his continued formation after his ordination. He has learned that ministry doesn’t stop at the Church doors, but, instead, begins there, whether it be preparing those entering the Church, ministering to those who have left the Church or to those whose faith is a work in progress. That same philosophy extends to his business relationships where he strives to apply the Gospel in his relationships with others.

Deacon Sean holds a Masters Degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a 1984 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School. In 2005, after nearly twenty-two years of service, he retired from the US Air Force Reserve where he served as an Intelligence Officer. In addition, Deacon Sean has completed numerous professional development programs, including the Sean_Keller1Disney Institute’s Leadership Excellence, Business Excellence and Disney’s Approach to Creativity and Innovation, among others.

In his secular career, Deacon Sean was the Co-Founder, President & CEO of Sage Management—a professional services firm providing scientific, software and system engineering, program management, training and intelligence analysis support to their Federal Government clients. He is also the Co-Founder and President of N-M Holdings, LLC—a “UPS Store” franchisor with stores in central Florida. He has served as a Senior Executive with the Maryland Department of Transportation and currently provides business and organizational development consulting for small IT-centric businesses. He also served as a Faculty Adjunct at the Carey School of Business at the Johns Hopkins University.

In his community, Deacon Sean has served on a variety of Boards and community organizations. He has coached Girls soccer all the way from Clinic to High School Varsity. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Howard Community College Education Foundation and a member of the Catholic Business Network of Howard County, Maryland.

He and his wife, Sheri, a Special Educator, have two daughters — Shayna, a Senior at Coastal Carolina University and Sierra, a Senior at the Glenelg Country School. They reside in Clarksville, Maryland.
