In August 1998, after a 15-year career in daily newspapers, Rick Musacchio became Editor in Chief of the Tennessee Register.  Since that time, the paper and its staff have won numerous awards in the Catholic Press Association contest including several top recognitions for General Excellence.  He also serves as Director of Communications for the Diocese of Nashville, responsible for the publication of the newspaper, the diocesan website, and a number of other aspects of the diocesan communications operation.  He serves on a number of committees at both the diocesan and national level.

He has covered events across the diocese and travelled as far as Rome for stories published in the Tennessee Register. Rick has covered three papal trips to the United States.

Prior to joining the Tennessee Register, he spent 12 years as a staff photographer and picture editor covering a wide range of daily and extended assignments for The Tennessean. He also worked for The Clarion Ledger and Jackson Daily News in Jackson, Mississippi. While earning a degree in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University, he worked at The Chicago Tribune, The Palm Beach (FL) Post, and The Kansas City Star.

He and his wife, Karen, grew up in Louisville, Kentucky but have lived in Nashville for more than 30 years. They have 5 children ranging in age from 29-years-old to 6-years-old.
