William J. Whalen

Chief Financial Officer, Roman Catholic Diocese of Nashville

William Whalen was named chief financial officer of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nashville in July 2011. He had previously served general counsel of Nissan Canada’s general counsel since 1996, having joined the legal department of Nissan North America in 1994. He was also assistant general counsel and director of Nissan North America.

Before joining Nissan’s legal staff, he was an attorney with General Motors Corporation in Detroit, Michigan. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and is licensed to practice in Tennessee, California and Michigan. He has previously taught at the University of Detroit, the University of Michigan, Marygrove College and Catholic University of America.
